Assael Architecture
I am an Italian architect and landscape architect living in London. Inspired by the French paysagistes, I have studied and worked in France for different years where I have decided to follow my passion for landscape architecture and urbanism and their social aspect.
During my master's, I decided to work, explore and live in those contexts that need both landscape and humanitarian responses. After being active in the biggest slum in Kenya, where I helped to build a school together with the local contractor and international architects, I moved to Mumbai where I started to develop my dissertation project for the open spaces in the informal settlement of Shivagji Nagar. The participatory approach, the collaborative work between professionals and residents, the power of the community and designing a network of different responses, are the best lessons that I could have learned and I can apply in my everyday job.
