Refugee camps are the first step after a crisis happens. As architecture always took a role in humanitarian situations, this master thesis focuses in on the history of camps and the role of landscape architecture in the development process of refugee camps choosing Azraq refugee camp in Jordan. Many investment projects are currently taking place giving a sign that the camp is not temporary. Therefore, the thesis includes both research and a project proposing a sustainable design for re-structuring and developing Azraq camp. By suggesting agricultural and entertainment projects involving both the refugees and the locals, this would play a main role in putting the light on the socio-economic elements leading into more employment opportunities in the host country.
